The State Election Commission has issued a guideline regarding the three-tier panchayat elections. In addition, a letter has also been given to District Election Officer cum District Magistrate Kanwal Tanuj. According to the Election Commission, polling will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. While the counting of votes will start at eight o’clock in the morning. The process of panchayat elections has been started under the guideline and the date for the panchayat elections will be announced soon. The Commission has also issued a directive regarding the proposers of the candidates in the election. Accordingly, the process of becoming a proposer has been set for the candidates for the posts of Panchayat Bodies and Village Courts. Under the panchayat elections, 18 lakh voters in the district will select the members of the Zilla Parishad, Mukhiya, Panchayat Samiti, Sarpanch, Gram Panchayat members and Gram Kachhari members.
Proposers will not receive financial support from local authority
Officials, teachers, professors and non-teaching staff working or posted or deputed in educational and non-educational institutions receiving full or partial financial assistance from the Central or State or any local authority will not be made proposers under the guidelines issued. Besides, the Anganwadi workers, special education projects, literacy campaigns and instructors working on honorarium in special education centers have also been banned from becoming proposers.
Apart from this, Panchayat Shiksha Mitra, Nyaya Mitra, Vikas Mitra, Dalapati and Home Guards working on honorarium are also included in this. Apart from this, public advocates GP and Public Prosecutor PP will also not be able to be proposers. The Commission said that if the above mentioned person is a proposer then the nomination of such candidate will be canceled.
