CALGARY – Brendan Bottcher defeated Kevin Koe 6-2 on Sunday in another big game in Alberta to secure a spot in the men’s final of the Humpty’s Champions Cup, while Ottawa’s Rachel Homan got a spot in the Women’s Championship secured.

Bottcher tied Koe off at the same location earlier this year to win the Canadian Men’s Championship.

Bottcher will face Bruce Mouat from Scotland in the final of the Grand Slam of Curling on Monday.

Bottcher is the defending champion of the Champions Cup after winning the event for the last time in 2019.

In the women’s category, defending champion Silvana Tirinzoni from Switzerland will meet the 2018 winner, Homan, on last Monday.

Homan took revenge on Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Man., And beat her 5-3 in the semifinals. Einarson prevailed against Homan in the final of the Canadian Women’s Championship earlier this season.

The Champions Cup is the first v on two Grand Slams and the fifth curling event in a spectator-free, controlled environment to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Einarson will be Canada at both the Women’s World Cup from April 30th to May 9th in Calgary and at the Mixed Doubles World Championship later that month in Aberdeen, Scotland, with Gushue.
