A hospital in Metro Vancouver is facing another COVID-19 outbreak, the local health authority said on Sunday.
A department at Vancouver General Hospital is managing an outbreak of the disease, according to Vancouver Coastal Health. By Sunday, five patients and two employees in an inpatient unit at the Jim Pattison Pavilion had tested positive.
« The unit is currently closed for new admissions and transfers, » said a statement from VCH.
« All visits have been suspended until the outbreak measures are lifted. The exception is compassionate end-of-life visits. »
According to VCH, the rest of the hospital remains open and ready to accept patients who need urgent and urgent care.
« Please do not hesitate to seek help as this could make your condition worse, » said the health authority notice.
Strict protocols have been implemented, including patient and staff monitoring, improved cleaning, unit closure for admissions and transfers, and cohort formation.
The hospital has reported outbreaks in the past, including one in a breathing station on Christmas Day and another in the hospital ward about two weeks later.
