Michael Greco – who played Beppe DiMarco in EastEnders – has announced the gender of his unborn child.
EastEnders star Michael Greco has announced that he is expecting a baby boy with girlfriend Helen Harris.
The actor, who appeared on Loose Women on Wednesday and played Beppe DiMarco on BBC Soap, spoke of becoming a father for the first time.
Speaking to panelists Janet Street-Porter, Brenda Edwards, Kaye Adams and Denise Welch, Michael said he was overjoyed with the news.
« I was overwhelmed when my partner told me I was breaking in I cry, I didn’t think I would, but I did, « he said.
Michael, who had left Albert Square 20 years ago, announced that his girlfriend was expecting an ultrasound on Instagram in February.
He called Helen his « absolute soulmate » when he wrote, « Baby Greco. First time dad at 51! Probably the biggest post I’ve ever shared.
» I can’t explain how emotional it was for me to become a father for the first time with my absolute soul mate.
« I’m usually a very private person, but I couldn’t help but reveal my greatest joy and I just want it to the world tell!
« In these devastating times we are all facing, this is the best news I could ever dream of.
Regarding his age at Loose Women, the star stated, » It is funny to be a dad in my 50s now because there are no rules in life. Some people have children when they are younger, others at an older age.
Holding up a pair of blue socks, Michael added, « I’m a traditionalist about color, I know some people aren’t, I’m Italian, I’m old-fashioned, I’m a traditionalist. «
Michael joined EastEnders in 1998 as Beppe DiMarco, but was dropped in 2002 with his last scenes, which aired June 4th.
