Former police officer Pradeep Sharma appeared before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday for the second day in connection with the discovery of explosive material in a vehicle outside the house of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and killing businessman Mansukh Deer. Sharma, called the ‘encounter expert’, was summoned by the NIA for recording the statement. In this regard, an official said that Sharma reached the NIA office in South Mumbai this afternoon. Sources said Sharma is likely to be confronted face to face with suspended police officer Sachin Waje and two others who were earlier arrested by the NIA in connection with the investigation into the case. Sharma was questioned by the NIA for more than 7 hours on Wednesday. Sharma was considered a trusted officer of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh when he was the Chief of Thane Police. Prior to taking voluntary retirement, Sharma worked in the anti-recovery cell of the Thane Crime Branch. Sharma contested from Nala Sopara assembly seat in Palghar district in 2019, but lost.
