Shannon Sharpe is the youngest analyst to fall for a false, meme-driven quote about Durant and his attitude to winning championships, as well as comparisons with LeBron James.

On Monday in « Undisputed » on FS1, in which Sharpe cohosts with Skip Bayless and Jenny Taft, Sharpe discussed a quote he thought was Durant’s.

The wrong quote from an unverified Twitter account of a Nets fan is: « People try to discredit my rings, but honestly I feel like the most precious of our time. » People argue (LeBron) is the GOAT, but if I beat him in a row in the final, what does it matter to me? «

In discussing the unsubstantiated quote, Sharpe had this to say: » Kevin Durant thought that when he won the title, people would generally consider him the best player in the NBA. Better than even LeBron James. But very few people were willing to go there. And then he’s like … Because he said it. “If LeBron James is the GOAT. I hit the goat twice and hit the shot in his building. What makes me «

» Your drunk uncle is out here again. When did I say that @ShannonSharpe? « Durant tweeted in response to a fan who shared a clip of Sharpe’s analysis, writing, » I don’t think [KD] said that. «

On Tuesday, he went to Twitter to share with fans explaining that he never recited the quote.

« Shannon responded to this message on TV like I actually said so. Gullible fans will believe it or say, » You thought that anyway, « warned Durant and added that the quote « is a comedy at this point. »

Back in October, ESPN analyst Jay Williams fell for a similar false quote about Durant, and after the mix-up, Williams apologized to Twitter for receiving it « Bad information ».
