Hobbits with a podcast? Stranger things have happened. Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd will take you on a journey back to Middle-earth.
The duo who played the hobbits Merry and Pippin in the Lord of the Rings films are launching a podcast on the franchise. Kast Media is launching The Friendship Onion on May 18.
Monaghan and Boyd will be bringing jokes, stories and comedies to the fandom’s podcasting section every week, as well as covering the latest developments in pop culture. The couple will put fans’ knowledge of The Lord of the Rings to the test and reveal exclusive stories from the filming. (And maybe even greet some surprising celebrity guests.) « I am contractually bound to post a glowing comment here on the podcast Billy and I are doing together. This proves difficult as Billy kidnapped me and is holding me as a ransom for the price of 44 bananas. Please send bananas, « said Monaghan.
» Dom was a little convinced, that’s true, but this podcast is going to rock. He’s such a joker, you have to love Dom. Ha … but you have to love bananas too, well … Yes, send bananas, « said Boyd.
The Friendship Onion will be releasing new episodes weekly. You can listen to Spotify or other podcasting platforms. You can also watch the video simulcast on YouTube.
» We couldn’t be more excited to bring this duo’s comedic genius to podcasting. Fans were introduced to the quick wit and fun entertainment of this pairing through the Lord of the Rings films, but this podcast will show how far beyond these origins their boundless energy and interest extend. We can’t wait to peel off the layers of that friendship bulb, ”said Colin Thomson, CEO of Kast Media.
The LOTR podcast is the latest in a series of podcasts by actors from the most popular TV and film franchises -Companies like Office Ladies with Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey or Fake Doctors, Real Friends are moderated by Zach Braff and Donald Faison.
