First Deputy General Director of the TASS news agency, Mikhail Gusman, was awarded the Moscow Mayor’s Prize « for services in the development of domestic journalism and many years of fruitful work in covering the life of the metropolitan city in foreign Russian-language media. »
According to TACC, the ceremony of presenting awards to journalists, timed to coincide with the Day of the Russian Press, took place in the ceremonial White Hall of the Moscow City Hall.
Mikhail Gusman was unable to attend the ceremony along with other media representatives, as he is in self-isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic. In his letter to the mayor, he cordially thanked for the high award.
« The Moscow Mayor’s award for us, professional journalists, is one of the highest awards in the media industry, at the same time testifying to the constant attention of the authorities of our capital to the work of the agency. We sincerely appreciate it, » said the first deputy general director of TASS.
In total, 22 journalists received awards from the Moscow mayor’s office for 2020. The Moscow Prize in Journalism has been awarded since 2001 for the creation of the most talented and topical journalistic materials, television and radio programs about the capital and its residents, which have received public recognition, raise important issues of the socio-economic and cultural life of the city, as well as imbued with a sense of citizenship and contributing to instilling in citizens love for Moscow, respect for its history and traditions. The presentation of the award is traditionally timed to coincide with the Press Day, which is celebrated on January 13.
