Ebene Magazine - Russian automotive market is facing stagnation ru

The Russian car market may come to a standstill next spring. Demand has been growing for the past three months, and production is not recovering at a fast enough pace. The Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told about this at the « Business Breakfast » in the « Rossiyskaya Gazeta ».

As for the Russian car industry, in 2020, 19.5% fewer cars were produced than a year earlier, and sold – 9.8% less. But unlike in previous years, according to Manturov, there was no downtime in the winter. The factories were loaded to full capacity.

“I would not want the demand to fall – given how much it cost us to maintain it,” he added.

In the coronavirus year, the state provided support to Russian auto enterprises for 55 billion rubles. Thanks to this, another 250 thousand cars were sold. Recall that last summer, the government offered discounts to buyers of Russian cars on credit. This privilege was granted not to everyone, but to some categories of citizens – families with children, medical workers, residents of the Far East (they were offered a maximum 25% discount).

Denis Manturov expressed confidence that Russian auto enterprises are now in a much better position than their colleagues from Germany, Spain and other European countries.
