Irish athletes Sarah Lavin and Ciara Neville had no fun at the European Indoor Championships in Torun today.
Lavin, who had the best career performance in yesterday’s heats of the women’s 60m hurdles in a time of 8.06, finished 8.07 in today’s semifinals, but it wasn’t enough when she finished fourth.
Neville set her time of 7.37 in the 60-meter race and finished fourth. Again, this was not enough to reach the final. Molly Scott and Joan Healy also said goodbye in the 60m.

Tomorrow Sean Tobin will compete in the 3,000 meter final at the European Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, after setting a personal best of 7: 47.71 in today’s heat to come through as the fastest loser.
In many ways, it was the ultimate act of athletic cruelty, proof that the harsh, ruthless world of elite athletics cares little about what you deserve or what you want so badly. In the end, you just have to accept what you get.
