Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs in the third match of IPL 2021 in Chennai. Captain David Warner decided to bowl first after the coin toss was in favor of Hyderabad. Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi’s half-centuries helped Kolkata reach 187 for six in 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad were bowled out for 177 for 5 in 20 overs. Johnny Bairstow and Manish Pandey from Hyderabad scored half-centuries. However, he failed to give the team a victory. Kolkata’s Nitish Rana was honored with the Man of the Match award.
Hyderabad’s innings
Hyderabad did not have a good start as they chased down Kolkata’s challenge. In the second over, opener David Warner was caught behind the wicket. Famous Krishna took the wicket of Warner. KKR’s Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana opened the innings. Nitish Rana made his intention clear by hitting a four off the first ball of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Bhubaneswar, Sandeep Sharma and T. Natarajan, the Hyderabad bowler, scored 45 runs in the first five overs. The duo then put the team’s half-century on the board in the sixth over. Seeing the batting of both, Warner handed the ball to Rashid Khan. Rashid also dismissed Shubman Gill for an individual 15 in the first over.
