MIDDLESEX CENTER , ONT. – –
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reports 126 new COVID-19 cases, but no new deaths as of Wednesday.
The total marks a return to the higher weekend case numbers after two days of daily total in the 1970s. In the last three days there was a daily average of just over 120 cases.
The region now has a total of 7,825 cases with 948 active, 6,687 resolved and 190 deaths. There are nine confirmed cases of B.1.1.7 variants and 466 were tested positive for a questionable variant.
The London Health Sciences Center (LHSC) says it treats nine staff and 27 inpatients who are positive for COVID-19, including 12 in intensive care, seven of whom are from other regions.
Meanwhile, health officials on Tuesday released updated totals for cases related to Western University dormitories, six of which are actively breaking out:
The medical health officer of the MLHU, Dr. Chris Mackie, however, pointed out that the incidence of parties and off-campus breakouts are much higher.
« These cases are largely dwarfed by out-of-residence cases. Therefore, cases and outbreaks associated with off-campus social events in post-secondary or different locations have caused more cases than cases in residence. So both concern Trends. «
Lambton Public Health has now opened registration for the COVID-19 vaccine for everyone aged 60 and over, as well as for adults at a higher health risk. You can find all details here.
Ontario reported more than 3,200 new COVID-19 cases and 17 more deaths for the first time in several months.
