UPDATE, 1:20 p.m .: Students have returned to class after a suspected fear of bombing at Ipswich State High School.

An extensive search of the school is believed to have found no objects of concern.

UPDATE, 12.30pm: Ipswich State High School officials have confirmed that the school was the subject of a bombing threat today.

In a statement posted on social media, a spokesman said security procedures were implemented quickly in response.

It is believed that the threat came from a phone call just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

« Following the official procedures of the Department of Education, the students were evacuated and the police called, » said the spokesman.

UPDATE, 12 noon: The emergency services are still working on the site of a suspected bombing at Ipswich State Secure high school.

It is believed that evacuees have been advised that they may have to stay on the school premises until 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

INITIAL, 11 a.m .: An emergency evacuation is currently underway at Ipswich State High School in response an alleged fear of bombs.

It is believed that the incident was first reported to authorities on Wednesday morning around 10:20 a.m.
