Jaipur: Captain and opener Rituraj Gaikwad’s century and the help of Rajwardhan Hungargekar, Satyajit Bachhav and Mukesh Chaudhary helped Maharashtra beat Himachal Pradesh by 59 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Opener Rituraj Gaikwad’s powerful century helped Maharashtra to 295 for eight in their first innings. Syed Mushtaq Ali Maharashtra is under pressure to do well in this competition to wash away its failures. On Sunday, captain Rituraj decided to bat first by winning the toss. He started the innings with Yash Nahar. The pair opened the innings with 78 runs. Nahar hit a half-century. After his dismissal, Naushad Sheikh supported Rituraj and scored a half-century for the team.

Sheikh Sthirawala was dismissed for 28 runs. Rituraj, meanwhile, batted aggressively as he crossed the half-century mark. However, he was eliminated shortly after the century.
