The Delhi High Court while hearing a petition said that despite repeated orders to the Central and Delhi Aam Aadmi Party government, the AAP government is not paying the bills pending for 6 months or more by the lawyers.
Judge Pratibha M Singh said that a High Court Bench, hearing a PIL to approve the bills of government lawyers, cleared the Delhi government’s outstanding fees before February 1, 2020 last year. Was instructed to do. But even after this, the central government has not approved the bills and the lawyers are being forced to file writ petitions.
Recently, a lawyer Prannoy Ranjan has filed another petition against the Delhi government demanding payment of professional bills. Ranjan told the court that after filing the petition, his 2019 bills have been approved but not 2018. He told that the outstanding balance of 2018 was Rs 3.46 lakh. On Ranjan’s petition, the court directed that the bill of the petitioner (Ranjan) should be cleared within 30 days.
In fact, on 1 February, the Delhi High Court has directed the government and government departments to ensure that the fees of the lawyers they have hired are paid on time and petitioned the lawyers to get their dues. Don’t be forced to do it.
Judge Pratibha M Singh said that under no circumstances should it be that lawyers who have been hired have to sue their clients for payment of fees. A lawyer filed a petition in the High Court against the Delhi government for non-payment of fees.
