The Rainbow District School Board confirmed a second case of COVID-19 in a student at Lo-Ellen Park High School on Saturday

This is also the second known case in a Greater Sudbury school since elementary and high school students returned in September No positive test among staff has been announced

« Public Health Sudbury and Districts has informed the Rainbow District School Board that a second confirmed case of COVID-19 is impacting Lo-Ellen Park High School, » Rainbow Council said in an open letter to parents and guardians on its website on Saturdays

« The person who has tested positive for COVID-19 is currently self-isolating and is being monitored by Public Health Sudbury and Districts »

Although the situation is evolving, the council said, public health has indicated that there is no evidence of transmission at the school at this time and that the school remains open, but students in two classes were asked to isolate themselves until Nov 4

These students, their parents and guardians as well as relevant staff have been informed by the school, the board said, and the health unit will directly contact all parents and guardians of the students and all school staff. who have been identified as close contacts

Those not directed at self-isolation have been reminded that just passing through an infected person in the hallway is not considered close contact and the risk of spreading the virus in this way is weak

Parents and guardians have been urged to continue using the COVID-19 screening tool for children in school and in child care available at covid-19ontarioca / school screening to monitor symptoms and follow the instructions provided, and follow the COVID-19 prevention measures:
