ILOILO CITY – Guimaras Province is slowly opening its doors to tourists, but has different requirements for those coming from outside the region, Governor Samuel Gumarin said on Wednesday.
During the Laging Handa Network Briefing hosted by Secretary Martin Andanar, the governor said that tourists within Western Visayas can enter Guimaras simply by showing their IDs and completing a health declaration.
However, those coming from outside the region must adhere to the required 14-day quarantine and present their negative RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction) test.
The province’s first step in opening up its tourism industry was to host a Bike Fun Race with 136 cyclists in 17 categories from the province and Iloilo in November. 22nd.
It was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Western Visayas and the Guimaras Xtreme Riders.
He added that proper protocol was followed during the event, such as observing social distancing and wearing masks. They also set up a hand washing area for the spectators.
In a press release, Liberty Ferrer, the provincial tourist office in charge, said the province is now moving to the new normal as it hosts events that can lure tourists back to the island.
